Tropical Water Lilies are a whole other flavor when compared to the Hardy varieties of Water Lilies.
Your Tropical Water Lilies are going to do best for you in areas of sunlight and warmth. Keep this in mind when you select and set your plants up.
Blooms are typically more intense in color, larger in size, and are also available in gorgeous blues and purples. Exciting night-blooming varieties are also available.
So remember the following
points with Tropical Lilies:
- Prefer warmer temperatures.
- Risk of loss in the winter.
- Most bloom above surface.
- Many w/speckled or mottled pads.
- Most are fragrant.
- Pinks, Whites, Reds of intense color.
- Color choices inc. blues and purples.
- Bloom late into the year.
- Night Blooming varieties available.
We have heard of some folks that experience snow and/or ice in their area taking some of their Tropical Water Lilies from their pond after the winter cold snap hits, and storing them in a bucket or large tub of water inside a warm shed or house garage near sunny window.
Lilypad leaf patterns can vary greatly
among the Tropical Water Lilies.
