There are several varieties of Taro to choose from. Taro is in the Elephant Ear family and can be planted in soil or in lava rock in a pot, where it will happily derive nutrients from the water if you have aquatic life in your pond. This particular planter shown left, is next to a water fall and bridge in a cement pond with large koi. It is in a large plastic planter set on a clay brick base above the water's surface so the koi cannot attack the base of the plant.
We offer the following varieties of Taro:
GREEN - Colocasia esculenta
VIOLET STEMMED - Colocasia esculenta 'Fontanesii'
PLUMBAE - Alocasia plumbae
IMPERIAL - Colocasia antiquorum
BLACK MARBLE - Colocasia multiflora 'Black Marble'
BLACK MAGIC - Colocasia esculenta 'Black Magic'
VARIEGATED - Alocasia amazonica
'Hilo Beauty'
